About Fallen Timbers

Handcrafted from locally fallen and salvaged timbers on our Bucketty property, each piece holds a story shaped by nature, refined by hand, and created with purpose. Fallen Timbers sits alongside our broader work in community and care, turning storm-fallen trees and rescued slabs into functional art that is made to be used, touched, and lived with every day.

Where it began

Fallen Timbers grew from a simple belief: that the most beautiful things are often hidden beneath the surface, waiting for someone to reveal them. Bucketty is home to enormous old gums, natural regrowth, and the stories of the land. When a tree falls, we honour it by creating something meaningful from what remains.

Every board, bench seat, sculpture, and functional piece is crafted slowly and intentionally. We work with irregular edges, scars, termite paths, stress lines, and unique grain, the features that show a tree’s life.

Sustainability is central to how we work. We exclusively use fallen, storm-damaged, or naturally decayed timbers. Nothing is milled from living trees. We hand finish each piece using respectful, low-impact methods that keep the character of the timber intact.

When salvaging timber, habitats are always left intact. Hollows, fallen logs, nesting spaces, and micro-ecosystems are preserved. Sections of timber important for wildlife or the surrounding bushland stay exactly where they are. Our work is guided by respect for the forest first, and craft second.

Supporting vulnerable youth & young people with disability

Fallen Timbers is part of a larger community of care on our property. We work in collaboration with Thrive.ND, our neurodivergent-led organisation supporting young people with disability, young people in care, and those recovering from trauma.

Timber and resin work have become a powerful therapeutic and skill-building opportunity for many of the young people we support. In a calm, nature-based environment, they participate in:

  • safe introduction to tools and workshop skills
  • creative expression through sculpture and shaping
  • task development using real projects and real outcomes
  • hands-on learning that supports emotional regulation and confidence
  • connection to nature, land, and sensory-rich learning spaces

Some pieces crafted in the Fallen Timbers workshop are made in collaboration with young people, offering meaningful achievement and a sense of ownership in a supportive environment.

Our mission is simple: create beauty, create stability, and create opportunities for people who rarely receive them.
